It features an 8 speed shifter and an 11-42T cassette, which offers a great range of gearing to meet the demands of your off-road adventures. Box Four 8 Speed Shifter

The Box Four shifter’s main features aren’t strikingly different from Box Three’s. The key difference is its 8-speed platform. We’ve chosen to modernize the 8-speed in much the same way we did the 9-speed for Prime 9. Just like the Prime 9, the Box Four shifters take advantage of the “less is more” theme and exploit durability, simplicity, and reliability.

The Box Four Rear Derailleur is the base of Prime 9 Technology that offers an affordable clutch based 1 by 8-speed derailleur that is simple and light; this makes it a perfect candidate for every entry-level bike that traditionally has a 3 by drive-train that is neither durable nor user friendly.

Box Four 8 Speed 116 Link Chain Natural

The Box Four chain employs an 8-speed platform in a similar strategy to the Prime 9 but at a great price point. The chain is polished and then chemically treated to achieve corrosion resistance. We engineered the inner link spacing to be a little tighter than other 8-speed chains and is optimized for use with our Box Four Wide/Narrow Chainring.

Derailleur

Are Box Prime 9 derailleurs compatible with Shimano “direct mount” hangers? No, Shimano direct mount hangers are proprietary and are not compatible with Box derailleurs.

Is the Box Four Prime 9 Derailleur compatible with other 8 speed components? No, traditional 8 speed systems use a Cable Pull that is not compatible with Prime 9.

Are Box Prime 9 derailleurs compatible with drop bar (road) shifters? No, Box Prime 9 derailleurs are not currently compatible with drop bar shifters, but we do offer a clamp for our shifters to mount on some 31.8mm drop handle bars.

How should I clean my Box Four Prime 9 derailleur? We suggest removing the derailleur from the bike and using a soft bristle brush or rag with soapy water or a mild degreaser. We do not recommend pressure washing, strong solvents or de-greasers as they could degrade the surface coating.

Does the Box Four Shifter come with a cable? Yes. All Box One Twin Lever Shifters come with a stainless steel shift cable.

How do I remove the cap from the cable port to install a new cable? To remove it, use a Phillips head screwdriver and turn it counter-clockwise a quarter turn You can then push the cap out by applying pressure to the cable from the other side. Please Note: The Cable Port is not a screw that un-threads from the cable port if you turn the cable port screw more than 90 degrees damage may occur.

Is the Box Four Shifter compatible with other 8 speed derailleurs? No, traditional 8 speed systems use a Cable Pull that is not compatible with Box Four components.

Will the Box Four Prime 9 Cassette fit on a wheel with a Sram XD Driver? No this will only work with a HG splined Shimano 9-10-11 speed freehub body.

Is the Box Four Prime 9 Cassette compatible with other 8 speed drivetrains? No, The Box Four Prime 9 Cassette is optimized for use only with Box Four Prime 9 Components; running other component variations could result in poor performance.
